Esther Okoronkwo, the dynamic 27-year-old forward, has been voted the Super Falcons’ Fans Player of the Tournament at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) held in Morocco.
The announcement was made via the Super Falcons’ official X handle on July 29, 2025, with the caption: “Presenting your #WAFCON2024 Fans’ Player of the Tournament… Esther Okoronkwo, OON. Clutch. Composed. Crowned by the people.”
Okoronkwo’s stellar performance included two goals and six assists in six matches, earning her two Woman of the Match awards.
Her contributions were pivotal in Nigeria’s 3-2 victory over hosts Morocco in the thrilling WAFCON 2024 final, securing the Super Falcons’ record-extending 10th title.
The Imo State native outshone other nominees, including Rasheedat Ajibade, Folashade Ijamilusi, Ashleigh Plumptre, Chiwendu Ihezuo, and Jennifer Echegini, to claim the fan-voted award.
Okoronkwo, who also received the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) alongside her teammates, expressed gratitude to fans for their support, stating on X, “This is for Nigeria and every fan who believed in us!”
