The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has
arraigned Mkor Aondona, suspended special adviser on research and planning to
Hyacinth Alia, governor of Benue, for alleged s#xt0rti0n and cyberbullying.
Aondona was arraigned on Wednesday at the federal high court
in Lafia, Nasarawa state, on five-count charge bordering on alleged s#xt0rti0n
and cyberbullying.
“That you, Dr. Mkor Aondona Donatus “M” 50yrs, sometime in
September, 2024 in FCT, Abuja, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable
Court, knowingly and intentionally sent messages via WhatsApp, containing
recorded nude images and videos of one (name withheld), which were grossly
offensive, obscene, and of a menacing character, to wit: threatening to
publicly disseminate sexually explicit images and videos, which caused the said
person (name withheld) to fear for her safety and well-being and thereby
committed on offence contrary to Section 24(1)(a) of the Cybercrimes
(Prohibition, Prevention, ETC) Act, 2015 and punishable under same Section of
the Act,” part of the charge sheet reads.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Ruling on the bail application, Mobolaji Olajuwon, the trial
judge, granted him N30 million bail with two sureties.
The judge said the two sureties must have landed property
and show evidence of three-year tax payment.
The judge ordered the remand of Aondona at the correctional
facility pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions.
On June 20, Aondona was arrested by EFCC operatives for
alleged sext0rti0n and cyberbullying.
According to the EFCC, some female students accused the
governor’s aide of sexual exploitation, cyberbullying and blackmail.
The petitioners accused the governor’s aide of using sexual
favours as a condition for job appointment and also obtaining videos of every
sexual act without their consent while threatening to leak the videos if they
refused to continue having sex with him.
Subsequently, he was suspended as a special adviser.
