Datti Baba-Ahmed, former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, has revealed that he spoke with Peter Obi before attending the Julius Abure-led LP National Executive Council, NEC, meeting.
Speaking on Arise TV on Tuesday night, Baba-Ahmed insisted
that Obi had no objection to his attendance.
He said, “If His Excellency Peter Obi and I had been sworn
in, there would have been things that would have fallen on me to do.
“Not too long ago, his younger brother’s property was
smashed. He has been busy. He went to Daura for Buhari’s burial. Also, one
governor was on his case not to visit his state.
“I need to understand that Peter Obi’s cup is full. And
maybe he is shy to tell me to go and do these things. He knows everything I do.
I carry him along.
“Peter Obi is a very easy person. He leaves you to use your
judgement and initiative. He was fully in the picture.”
LP has been embroiled in an
internal crisis, with the party now split into two factions, one led by Abure
and the other by interim chairman, Nenadi Usman.
Most members of the party are of the view that Abure’s
tenure as chairman has expired, and even the court has directed him to stop
parading himself as the national chairman of the party.
