President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State following the Supreme Court's affirmation of his victory in the 2024 governorship election.
President Tinubu, in a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, “encourages Governor Okpebholo to be magnanimous in victory and inclusive in leadership, encouraging him to focus on governance and delivering quality services to the people of Edo State.
The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, upholding Okpebholo's election. Okpebholo described the Supreme Court's verdict as a "landmark judgment" that reaffirms the collective will of the Edo people.
President Tinubu emphasized the importance of Okpebholo accelerating the delivery of good governance and quality services to the people of Edo State.
He also congratulated the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State for their well-fought political and legal battle.
