The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC)
has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of all 20 local
government chairmanship positions in the LGA elections.
The APC also secured all 37 local council development area
(LCDA) chairmanship seats, consolidating its dominance across the state’s local
government structures.
In addition to the chairmanship victories, the APC swept 375
councilor positions, leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with only a
single councilor seat.
Bola Okikiolu-Ighile, the chairperson of LASIEC, announced
the winners at the commission’s office in Yaba on Sunday.
She congratulated the election winners, urging them not to
be carried away by the celebrations, but to view their victory as a call to
serve.
“My words to the winners in the election is that this is not
only a call for celebration but for service to the people who voted for them,”
she said.
