Another Osun Rep Dumps PDP, Cite Internal Crises and Legal Battles

Taofeek Ajilesoro, the House of Representatives member for Ife Federal Constituency, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), becoming the latest lawmaker from Osun State to exit the party.

His resignation letter, dated July 22, 2025, and addressed to the PDP chairman of Ilare Ward II in Ife Central Local Government, Osun State, was made public on Wednesday in Osogbo.

In the letter, Ajilesoro cited persistent internal conflicts, deep divisions, and ongoing legal disputes within the PDP as reasons for his departure.

“This decision, though difficult, has become necessary due to the persistent internal conflicts, deep-seated divisions, and the pervasive culture of legal disputes that have unfortunately come to characterize the party,” he wrote.

He added that these issues made it challenging to align his continued membership with his personal convictions and governance aspirations, while expressing gratitude for his time in the party.

Ajilesoro’s exit follows similar resignations by other Osun PDP lawmakers, including Rep. Wole Oke (Obokun/Oriade) and Senators Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East) and Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central).

Despite the PDP’s strong performance in the 2023 elections, securing all three senatorial seats, all nine House of Representatives seats, and 25 of 26 Osun State House of Assembly seats, the party continues to grapple with internal challenges.
