A former governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has said that the National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been directed to expel members that have joined the African Democratic Congress, ADC, the platform of the opposition coalition.
The former governor did not mention names, but insisted that
nobody should be allowed to be in two political parties.
Ortom’s ally, the Minister of the
Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has been in the PDP while working
for the All Progressives Congress, APC government.
Wike has also declared that he would work for the reelection
of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, a repeat of what he did in 2023 while
still a member of the PDP
Most of the political leaders in the newly formed coalition
have vowed to remain in their political parties while supporting the ADC.
However, speaking in an interview on Channels Television,
Ortom said that that would not be allowed to happen in the PDP, insisting such
persons would be expelled.
“So there is no way you will be in PDP and be in another
party and you they left all those people,” he said.
“We have directed them to expel all of them. You cannot have
two parties running at the same time. You must be in one. So if you want to be
in PDP, you remain there.
“Even today, I received somebody who was saying ‘coalition,
coalition’ he said he has come back to the PDP.”
