A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and former spokesperson to Atiku Abubakar, Segun Showunmi, has stated that the newly formed coalition holds no hope of survival.
A number of political figures across the country recently
united under the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to form a coalition opposing
the Tinubu administration. The coalition is seeking to unseat President Bola
Tinubu through the ballot at the next general election.
Among its ranks are prominent politicians including the former
Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi; former Governor of Kaduna State,
Nasir El-Rufai; former Senate President, David Mark; former Vice President,
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; and former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi.
Notably, Amaechi, Obi, and Atiku have expressed their
interest in contesting the ADC presidential primary election.
Showunmi, a PDP stalwart who recently met with President
Bola Tinubu and appears to have moderated some of his earlier criticisms of the
administration, told Channels Television that members of the coalition would
eventually turn on one another as the political battle intensifies.
“They will quarrel among themselves over everything,” he
said.
“Everybody in that coalition suddenly wants to be president
all at time, and they will not be able to agree.”
