A former Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to ex-President Muhammadu Buhar, has revealed the position of his principal on the push to remove President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
As the talk of coalition of political leaders gains
attention in the country, former Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, ex-Governor of Kaduna
State, Nasir El-Rufai, and ex-Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal had visited
Buhari at his residence in Kaduna State.
Speaking after the meeting, however, El-rufai told the press
their visit to the former President was not politically motivated.
Despite the explanation, some members of the ruling All
Progressives Congress, APC, continue to link the visit to the 2027 presidential
election.
Asked whether Buhari now supports the removal of Tinubu or
intends to oppose the APC in the 2027 elections, Shehu firmly dismissed the
idea in an interview on Arise News.
“No, not at all. President Buhari’s position was and still
is that he’s an APC person. APC did him the big favour of his life. Made him
president for two terms.
“He is not going to betray that party. President Tinubu is a
successor from the same political party.
“President Buhari ran for office three times and didn’t win
until they came together with Tinubu and all the others and they won.”
