The controversy started after the award-winning singer made a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Sunday evening about the ongoing Love Island USA show. This prompted an X user to call her out, saying, "She doesn't read the room at all."
The Sabi-girl crooner then promptly replied with, "We not in the same room babes."
This reply sparked further outrage as several people began to call her out on her insensitivity and tone-deafness towards the plight of the nation.
As the backlash grew, Ayra then made a statement to defend herself from critics, stating that she would get bullied no matter what she said and that she was tired of being a scapegoat.
The post said: "There’s nothing I can do nor say to people that intentionally want to bully and misunderstand me every time , you’ve found a scapegoat abi ? Focus on issues that actually matter and leave me tf alone"
