UN Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned the recent attacks in Benue State, North Central Nigeria, that resulted in the deaths of scores of civilians.
The attacks, which targeted the village of Yelewata, left hundreds killed and many displaced.
Guterres expressed deep concern over the violence and called for those responsible to be held accountable.
Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, said “We’re monitoring the situation.
"The Secretary-General condemns the killing of innocent civilians, including in Nigeria and we hope that those responsible for this violence will be found and apprehended.”
