Gunmen have attacked the Agunechemba security outfit in Umunze, Orumba South local government area of Anambra State, killing one operative and injuring another. The attackers also set five operational vehicles and the security post on fire.
The incident happened at the security post of the Agunechemba outfit in Umunze, Orumba South local government area on Thursday evening.
The hoodlums stormed the area and overpowered the security operatives, who put up a fierce fight.
After a intense battle, the security operatives retreated through the bush.
The Anambra State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the attackers, with security operatives deployed to the area.
Police spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident and the police response.
The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu condemned the attack and emphasized the need for community support to bring the perpetrators to justice.
