President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia, for a state visit, marking the first leg of his two-nation trip to the Caribbean and South America.
According to Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu was welcomed with full military honors at Hewanorra International Airport by Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre and Governor-General Errol Melchiades Charles.
Tinubu will begin his state visit on Sunday with courtesy calls on Prime Minister Pierre and Governor-General Charles.
On Monday, the President will address a special joint session of the Saint Lucian Senate and House of Assembly at the William Jefferson Clinton Ballroom in Gros Islet, Sandals Grande. The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Saint Lucia, showcasing Tinubu's commitment to international cooperation.
The state visit provides an opportunity for Tinubu to engage with Saint Lucian leaders and discuss areas of mutual interest. The visit may also explore potential economic collaborations and trade agreements between the two nations.
