Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos state, and members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) met with President Bola Tinubu on Sunday.
The president received them at his residence in Ikoyi Lagos.
The meeting comes amid reports of a falling out between
Tinubu and the Lagos state governor.
Those who attended the meeting are GAC members and other
Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders, including Mudashiru Obasa,
speaker of the state house assembly; Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff (CoS) to
the president; Tokunbo Abiru, senator representing Lagos east; Obafemi Hamzat,
deputy governor; and Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, a former deputy governor of
Lagos.
Last Saturday, Tinubu snubbed Sanwo-Olu during the
inauguration of the completed phase 1, section 1 of the Lagos-Calabar coastal
highway.
The event was attended by top members of the APC, including
former Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Zulum, Douye Diri, governor of Bayelsa,
and Bassey Otu, governor of Cross River.
Tinubu exchanged pleasantries by shaking hands with the
dignitaries but ignored the Lagos governor and extended a handshake directly to
greet Ahmed Ododo, the governor of Kogi, who was next in line.
On Thursday, the Lagos governor was absent when Tinubu
flagged off the reconstruction of the deep seaport access road in the state.
Despite clearly labelling Sanwo-Olu’s seat, he was
noticeably absent, with his deputy, Hamzat, seated behind it.
The recent development has heightened speculation that
Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu are not on good terms since the impeachment of Obasa as
Lagos assembly speaker.
Obasa has since been restored as the speaker of the Lagos
assembly.
