PHOTOS: Police Deployment Heightens as Activists Gather for Democracy Day Protest

A strong police presence has been observed in the vicinity of the Ikeja underbridge in Lagos, as groups of protesters prepare to mark June 12 Democracy Day.

The demonstrators, comprising civil society groups and pro-democracy activists, are expected to voice their concerns over the worsening economic conditions and rising insecurity under President Bola Tinubu's administration.

Officers from the Nigeria Police Force's Area F Division are among those deployed to the area. As the protesters assemble, security operatives remain on high alert. The protest is yet to officially commence, but the atmosphere is tense.

The protesters aim to draw attention to pressing national issues, and the police deployment suggests a heightened level of security caution. The situation is being closely monitored.
