Nigerian Police Crackdown on Human Trafficking, Rescue 46 victims

The Nigerian Police Force has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against human trafficking and cyber fraud, rescuing 46 victims and arresting seven suspects linked to a sophisticated transnational crime network operating between Nigeria and Ghana.

In two major operations, the police rescued 31 victims who were trafficked from Ghana to Nigeria with false promises of employment in Europe. The victims were coerced into fraudulent internet marketing schemes tied to the QNET network. Six suspects were arrested, and incriminating evidence was recovered during a raid on the syndicate's operational base.

In a related incident, the police received a distress call about four Ghanaian nationals who were trafficked into Nigeria by a 39-year-old woman named Achiaa Grace Afrifa. The suspect allegedly defrauded her victims of 126,000 Ghanaian Cedis (around $10,000 USD) with promises of job opportunities. Swift police action led to her arrest, and 15 additional victims were liberated from her custody.

The police spokesperson assured that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations have been completed.

The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to dismantling trafficking syndicates, combating cybercrime, and protecting vulnerable populations from exploitation.
