NCC donates facility to Adamawa state for digital academy

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has handed over a wing of its Learning, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre in Yola to the Adamawa State government to establish a digital academy.

The academy has long been a plan of the state government to boost digital literacy and innovation.

The handing-over of the NCC facility took place on Tuesday when the Head of Digital Skills and Services of the NCC, Mrs Hauwa Wakili, said the initiative is indicative of the Commission’s commitment to promoting digital literacy nationwide.

She commended Adamawa State for being among the first to eliminate right-of-way charges and for encouraging citizens to take full advantage of the opportunities that the digital academy will offer.

The Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, Awwal Tukur, expressed appreciation for the collaboration between the NCC and the Adamawa State Government, which enabled the transfer of the facility.

He said the government would utilize the facility to drive digital transformation and economic growth.

The handed over wing of the NCC Learning, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre in Yola comprises 160 classrooms, administrative offices, hostels, a 220-seater auditorium, a 500-capacity cafeteria, and two 2000KVA generator sets.
