Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has donated N1 billion to victims of the recent flood disaster in Mokwa Local Government Area.
The governor made the announcement during an on-the-spot assessment of the affected area, where he commiserated with the victims and promised support.
The state government will provide ten trucks each of rice, beans, maize, millet, and sorghum to the flood victims.
Part of the intervention would be to provide land and services for resettlement, with the Ministry of Land and Survey directed to issue a Certificate of Occupancy to facilitate construction of resettlement homes.
A committee headed by Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba will oversee the judicious distribution of donations.
The governor appreciated the Federal Government, donor partners, and spirited individuals for their support.
The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, and former Deputy Governor Alhaji Mohammed Ketso commended the governor for his kindness.
State Assembly Speaker, Abdulmalik Daji sympathized with the victims and encouraged them to remain steadfast.
