The Special Assistant on Media to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Wale Ajetunmobi, has advised former presidential candidate Peter Obi to report the demolition of his brother's property in Ikeja to the police.
Recall that Obi had taken to social media earlier on Wednesday morning, to lament the demolition of his brother's 15-year-old property. Read here
Ajetunmobi came to the defence of Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, whom some netizens accused of ordering the demolition. Ajetunmobi stated that Wahab wouldn't comment on a demolition he didn't sanction and urged Obi to let the police investigate.
He emphasised that What's role doesn't include issuing court judgments, contrary to Obi's claim that those who demolished the property presented a court judgment.
“Peter Obi should report the matter to the police. They will help him find people who ordered the building’s demolition.”
He continued: “Whatever game Peter Obi wants to play, first things first – Who is responsible for the demolition has to be well stated. If he can’t reach them, he should go to the police station and report. A commissioner who doesn’t issue court orders should not be questioned.
“People probably think HC Tokunbo Wahab’s primary job is to demolish people’s houses.
“They can’t differentiate between removal of contraventions along drainage/canal’s right-of-way and demolition of distressed buildings, which is out of HC Wahab’s purview.”
