Jigawa State Government Approves N19.6 Billion for 560 Housing Units

The Jigawa State Government has approved N19.6 billion for the construction of 560 mass housing units across nine local government areas. These areas include: Babura, Birnin Kudu, Dutse, Gumel, Hadejia, Kafin Hausa, Kazaure, Maigatari, and Ringim.

The housing units will feature:

Three-bedroom detached units, Two-bedroom semi-detached units and Perimeter fencing.

This project, part of Phase II of the state's Mass Housing Estate program, aims to improve living conditions, stimulate local economy and Create jobs.

However, another report suggests the housing units might be constructed across all 27 local government areas, not just nine, with a total investment of over N34.8 billion in various infrastructure projects. But the exact details of the broader project are still unclear.

This initiative aligns with Governor Umar Namadi's vision for inclusive development and sustainable urban growth, addressing the state's housing deficit.

Nigeria currently faces a significant housing deficit of about 28 million units, with over 75% of existing housing units being substandard.
