Social commentator, Reno Omokri has revealed his recent
telephone conversation with former vice president, Atiku Abubakar.
Omokri said though he endorsed President Bola Tinubu for the
next election, he has no grudges with Atiku whom he supported in previous
elections.
The former presidential aide, however, tackled Atiku’s
spokesperson, Paul Ibe for allegedly speaking ill of him, calimed he never
criticized the former VP.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Omokri wrote, “I
literally just had a conversation with Waziri Atiku Abubakar, who said to me,
and I quote, “You, Reno, have credibility that others don’t have.”
“Mazi Paul Ibe may want to speak to his boss before speaking
ill of me.
“He should do his research very well before misrepresenting
the facts. Segun Showunmi has criticised Waziri Atiku Abubakar, which is a
fact. I immediately gave an interview to ace journalist Daddy Freeze, in which
I criticised Segun Showunmi for attacking former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The interview has not yet been released.
“However, I have NEVER publicly or privately criticised
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, though I support President Bola Tinubu.
“I counsel Mr Ibe to note the difference and not bundle
everyone in the same category.
“I say it loud and clear without shame that Mr Atiku
Abubakar has been good to me, and I never quarreled with him. My departure from
supporting him to endorsing President Tinubu was done without acrimony or
bitterness. We still talk and maintain most cordial relations.
“Other than our phone call today, I even consulted him
recently for a book I am writing. He is a good man, and though I am for
President Bola Tinubu, I will not disparage him.
“There is a reason President Jonathan described me as the
most loyal person in his administration. I never turn on my friends except they
first turn on me”.
