The military has deployed air surveillance over Makurdi and its environs to monitor the situation and tackle insecurity swiftly.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has taken over security operations in the state, with special forces already on the ground and more arriving.
President Tinubu has tasked Governor Alia to initiate a robust reconciliation process with aggrieved groups in the state to bring peace to Benue.
The deployment of special forces aims to restore peace and security in Benue State, where recent attacks have resulted in significant loss of life and property.
