According to reports, the incident disrupted production and
led to a protest on set.
The alleged victim, an assistant director, narrated how the
altercation began. “I was hitting the door for them to open because the DP
wanted to go out and confirm the frame. When Femi Branch shouted they were
filming, I questioned what they were filming when the DP and 1st AD were still
inside,” he said.
What started as a minor disagreement reportedly escalated
when the actor began to insult the assistant director, saying his “head is
incorrect.” The assistant director responded by reminding the actor that he had
the authority to halt filming if necessary.
This seemed to infuriate Branch further. “As he came inside
shouting at me, I told him he can’t intimidate me and that I was well within my
rights. That was when he hit me,” the assistant director alleged.
Eyewitnesses said the confrontation stunned the crew. In
solidarity with their colleague, they locked the gate of the location to
protest the actor’s actions.
Although filming continued at another location at Lekki
Conservation Centre, tension remained high. “When he arrived at the new
location and was asked to apologise, he refused and tried to leave,” the
assistant director explained.
“The crew locked the gate to prevent him from escaping.”
The actor is yet to issue a public statement regarding the
incident.
