Wasiu Ayinde, the Nigerian Fuji singer known as Kwam 1, has addressed rumours surrounding his marital status.
Recent rumours had claimed that the veteran singer intends
to reconcile with his ex-wife Titilola ‘Titi’ Marshal, whom he reunited with
months ago during his mother’s burial in Ogun.
There were also speculations that Kwam 1 was at odds with
his wife Emmanuella Ropo Ayinde-Marshal.
But in a recent interview, Kwam 1 refuted these claims, clarifying
that he only advised Emmanuella to take a break from social media to focus on
her business.
The Fuji icon emphasised that Emmanuella remains his only
wife and that his primary focus is completing the construction of his expansive
resort.
“I do not have any problem with Emmanuella. The only problem
in a relationship is kind of maybe what rules you are trying to put up,” he
said.
“I am busy with the construction of my resort. It is huge. I
went to hide my head so that I could concentrate and not have anything
diverting my attention. It is a huge project.
“Somebody cannot be in such a project and be distracted. I
told my wife to take all things easy, face business; leave social media.
“In the end the joy will be for us. I guess maybe she did
not like it that way. She has every right to her own reaction. Unfortunately, I
am not getting younger anymore. I am 68 already. Do I need to fool myself?”
Speaking about his ex-wife Titi, Kwam 1 stated that their
marriage had ended, but he remains devoted to their three children. He also
denied any plans of taking another wife.
The singer reiterated that his focus is now on business
ventures, including farming and his resort, which consumes most of his time and
resources.
“Titi Marshall is gone forever, but because she is gone,
should I shut my eyes out on the 3 children she gave birth to for me? I did not
do anything, I only concentrated on my project,” he said.
“Emmanuella brought this upon herself because I do not know
what she is doing on social media. You are not young anymore, you have 2
grown-ups in the University, the third one is about to join them so, these are
the issues we need to ponder over, not social media things.
“I do not have any intentions. What is ahead of me is huge
than to be considering just marriage. I will send you some of the project I am
doing here. It is very huge. It takes up 90% of my funds. I am now into
business big time aside music.
“Must I marry everyone? The lady is not my wife and I have
not married a new wife.”
Kwam 1 tied the knot with Titi in a private ceremony in
Ijebu Ode, Ogun, in March 2018.
He married Emmanuella in 2021 in Abeokuta.
