The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has canceled the Sallah Durbar activities due to security concerns.
The decision was made after meetings with the Kano State Government, which presented evidence of plans to exploit the Emir's movement to create tension in the state.
The Emir cited security reasons for canceling the Durbar activities, emphasizing the need to avoid unforeseen circumstances.
The Emirate Council has directed district heads, ward heads, and village heads to stay in their locations and adhere to the cancellation.
The joint security agencies in Kano had previously insisted that the ban on Sallah Durbar activities remains in force.
The cancellation aims to maintain peace and security during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in Kano State.
