Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has extended a heartfelt Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims in the state and beyond, urging them to reflect on the values of sacrifice, obedience, and faith embodied in the festival.
Eid-el-Kabir commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's unwavering devotion to God, demonstrated by his willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God's command. The festival is marked by solemn prayers, animal sacrifices, and charitable acts, particularly towards the less fortunate.
Governor Fubara called on Muslims to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria, especially during this challenging time of insecurity and economic hardship.
He emphasized that the spirit of Eid, rooted in forgiveness, compassion, and unity, should guide daily interactions among citizens.
The Governor appealed for kindness towards the poor and vulnerable, encouraging Muslims to reach out in reconciliation, forgive past grievances, and strengthen community bonds.
While acknowledging that some aspirations remain unmet due to political challenges, Governor Fubara noted significant strides made in the state's progress and reassured citizens that measures are being taken to stabilize governance and revitalize the economy.
Governor Fubara reaffirmed his administration's commitment to safeguarding the lives and welfare of all residents in Rivers State and called for continued prayers for the state's peace and development.
He concluded by wishing the Muslim faithful a joyful and spiritually rewarding Eid celebration.
