A devastating school shooting in Graz, Austria, has claimed the lives of at least eight people, with several others injured.
The incident occurred at a secondary school on Dreierschuetzengasse street, prompting a massive police response.
According to reports, the suspected perpetrator, believed to be a student at the school, has taken his own life after the attack. Authorities have confirmed that special forces were deployed to the scene following a 10 am call.
The victims include students and teachers, with some sustaining serious injuries. The death toll was initially reported at five but later rose to eight. The local authorities are working to determine the full extent of the incident.
In an update posted to X, local authorities confirmed: "The operation is still ongoing. The police helicopter is also in operation."
