Neymar, the Brazilian forward, has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently undergoing treatment. His club, Santos FC, announced the news in a statement.
Neymar started showing symptoms on Thursday, June 5, and underwent laboratory tests that confirmed the COVID-19 diagnosis.
He is resting at home and receiving symptomatic treatment as prescribed by a doctor.
This is Neymar's second COVID-19 infection, having previously tested positive in May 2021 while playing for Paris Saint-Germain.
The 33-year-old has been struggling to regain his top form since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2023.
He last played for Brazil in October 2023, when he suffered an injury during a match against Uruguay.
Neymar missed the Copa America 2024 and was excluded from Brazil's squad for the ongoing World Cup qualifiers.
His current health issue may further impact his playing schedule and performance.
