The convoy of President Bola Tinubu was held up on Wednesday by heavy flooding along the Lafia-Makurdi expressway, as he made his way to Benue State for a crucial visit over the recent spate of violent attacks.
The President, who had earlier announced his decision to cut
short other engagements in order to visit the troubled Benue state, was on his
way when heavy flood caused a section of the road to become impassable.
The affected route, a major corridor into Makurdi, has
forced commuters to either postpone their journeys or seek shelter in safer
areas.
The timing of the flood has raised concerns as it coincides
with heightened security and logistical movements in preparation for the
President’s one-day visit to commiserate with the people of Benue over the
recent massacre in Yelewata.
