Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, said police have arrested a number of people and that actions were being taken, following the killings that took place in Benue state.
Musa disclosed this on Thursday while fielding questions on
Arise Television’s Prime Time programme.
Recall that over 200 residents of Guma LGA in the state were
killed in the past few days by suspected herdsmen, leading to outrage among
citizens.
However, Musa stated that investigations were ongoing with
the Department of State Services, DSS, and all stakeholders working together.
He said: “Because we are law abiding individuals, so we have
to be sure of what we’re doing. Because it was not announced doesn’t mean it is
not taking place. The police have arrested a number of people, and actions are
being taken. Investigations are ongoing with the DSS, the police.
“You know, it takes a lot. So, because we are law abiding
individuals, so we have to be sure of what we’re doing, and I think that’s a
critical aspect, but all the security forces are working together to ensure
that this stops.”
