Bauchi Government Bans Farming Activities in Open Spaces, Road Setbacks

The Bauchi State Government has announced a ban on all forms of farming activities along road setbacks and open spaces within the metropolis and other urban centers.

This directive was issued through a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency, BASEPA, Yahaya Waziri.

According to the statement, the move is part of efforts to ensure a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for residents across the state.

Waziri explained that farming along roadsides and in designated green areas poses significant risks to public safety, obstructs drainage systems, distorts the urban landscape, and contributes to environmental degradation.

“Residents are strongly advised to desist from cultivating crops or engaging in any farming activity on public road setbacks, medians, green areas, and open spaces meant for beautification and urban development,” the statement read.
