No fewer than seven villages near Gusau, the capital of
Zamfara State, have been razed by bandits since Saturday.
This was revealed in a post by security analyst, Bakatsine
via X on Sunday.
According to Bakatsine, the affected villages include
Bargaja, Makera, Kahuta, Hayin Mai Cibi, Yar Geba, Hayin Yakubu, and Unguwar
Mata.
He wrote: “Since Saturday, bandits have burnt seven villages
near Gusau, Zamfara: Bargaja, Makera, Kahuta, Hayin Mai Cibi, Yar Geba, Hayin
Yakubu and Unguwar Mata.”
He also reported fresh attacks on Sunday evening near Mada
village, also in Gusau Local Government Area.
In a related development, a key road in neighboring Katsina
State has been shut down due to rising bandit attacks.
The affected route runs from Mararrabar Maigora through
Maigora, Sabon Layi Galadima, Fankama, and Faskari to Ƴankara.
Bakatsine added that on Saturday alone, four people were
shot and several others were abducted along the route.
“The road from Mararrabar Maigora through Maigora, Sabon
Layi Galadima, Fankama & Faskari to Ƴankara has been shut due to rising
bandit attacks. Yesterday alone, they shot 4 people, and abducted several
others,” he wrote.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the
incidents when this report was filed.
