Anti-Tinubu Coalition Eyes 2027, Challenge with New Party

The Anti-Tinubu coalition is taking steps to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

The League of Northern Democrats (LND), a key coalition partner, is leading efforts to register a new political party called the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).

The LND has been engaging with national figures, including former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and former Defence Minister Lt. Gen. TY Danjuma.

These leaders suggested expanding the coalition's reach beyond the North to achieve national unity.

The LND has aligned with the National Opposition Coalition Movement led by Senator David Mark.

The coalition is working towards registering the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) party, aiming to bring about change in Nigeria's political landscape.

The coalition seeks to end the APC's rule in 2027, citing the failure of the change promised in 2015 to materialize.

Convener of the LND, Dr. Umar Ardo, disclosed this in an interview, highlighting the coalition's efforts to build a broad-based movement for change in Nigeria.

Reacting to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike’s remarks that the coalition is dead on arrival, Ardo advised Wike to “wait and see.”

He said: “Our response to the FCT Minister’s statement that the coalition is dead on arrival is simple – once the coalition leadership gets a consensus on the registration of ADA, then that decision marks the beginning of the end of the Tinubu regime in 2027.

“And as sure as God made the little apples, ADA will defeat APC in each and every zone of the federation in the presidential election. And this is a promise.

“We will show Wike that he has a very shallow understanding of Nigeria’s national politics.”
