Former Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate,
Atiku Abubakar, has described himself and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi
Amaechi, as conspirators.
Atiku said he, Amaechi, and the opposition coalition are
united in their opposition to President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The former Vice President made the remark during an event
organized to mark Amaechi’s 60th birthday in Abuja yesterday.
Atiku accused Tinubu’s administration of weaponizing poverty
in Nigeria.
He, however, warned that their alliance is determined to
bring an end to the weaponization of poverty by the current administration.
According to Atiku: “You may call me a conspirator or
anything, but that is why we are in this alliance, to make sure we don’t allow
them to continue their weaponizing policies.
“One of our star conspirators is Rotimi Amaechi. Therefore,
we are here to wish you many happy returns, and we will continue to conspire
with you to minimize poverty and ensure that state machinery is not used to
weaponize it.”
Atiku, Amaechi, former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai,
and other stakeholders are currently spearheading an opposition coalition aimed
at removing Tinubu from power in 2027.
A few weeks ago, leaders of the coalition met to finalize
modalities and set the movement in motion.
