Air Peace says Adams
Oshiomhole, senator representing Edo north, did not check in online for his
missed flight and has failed to present a boarding pass to support his claim.
On Sunday, Oshiomhole claimed he completed his online
check-in at exactly 7:49 pm. the night before the flight and said he had shown
evidence of it to journalists.
Speaking during Politics Today on Channels Television on
Monday, Ayodeji Adeyemi, operations manager at Air Peace, said the senator’s
claims were false and likely driven by personal motives.
“I will make it categorically clear here that senator never
checked in online. He was only trying to make his way around,” Adeyemi said.
AIR PEACE CHALLENGES OSHIOMHOLE TO PRODUCE BOARDING PASS
He said passengers who check in online are issued a digital
boarding pass containing flight and seat details, noting that its records show
no such transaction linked to the senator.
“You can check in till like three hours before the flight,
before it shuts, so it is 24 24-hour check-in open. That is before flights and
about three hours, it stops so that people will not take advantage of that when
they are coming in late,” he said.
“I want to right here challenge the senator to produce the
boarding pass that was issued to him when he checked in online.
“I repeat again and clearly, senator Adams did not check in
online, and he has not till today produced the boarding pass to anybody. He can
tomorrow if he has it, but it is not existent.”
Responding to Oshiomhole’s claims of witnessing extortion,
Adeyemi said the senator had failed to provide credible evidence.
On June 11, Air Peace accused Oshiomhole of disrupting its
operations after missing a scheduled flight.
In two videos circulated on X, the senator could be seen
addressing an official at the airport and also sitting in front of a gate at
the Zulu Hall located at the Murtala Muhammed Airport terminal 1.
In response to the allegations, Oshiomhole said he did not
cause any disruption but rather took a stand against what he called extortion
and arbitrary policy changes by the airline.
But Air Peace described the claim as “deliberate falsehood,”
adding that no passenger was asked to pay money after the closure of check-in.
Reacting to the incident on June 13, Festus Keyamo, minister
of aviation and aerospace department, directed aviation agencies to probe the
incident involving Air Peace and the senator.
The minister said he had been in direct contact with both
parties since the day of the incident, and urged both parties to exercise
restraint in their public exchanges.
