Abraka in Turmoil: Kidnappers Ambush Security Forces, Sparking Clashes

Tensions are running high in Abraka, Delta State, after kidnappers ambushed security operatives, killing and injuring some. The attack was reportedly a revenge move after police and vigilantes killed four kidnappers, including a gang leader, in a joint operation. The ambush has sparked clashes between residents and northerners living in the community.

Kidnappers attacked and killed two residents who went to the bush for a land transaction on Wednesday, prompting police to mobilize with local hunters and vigilantes.

Marcus Dafe, a resident who joined the Monday protest against kidnapping in Abraka, which security agents disrupted, was shot dead by supposed kidnappers.

A shootout ensued, resulting in the deaths of four kidnappers and the recovery of one AK-47 rifle.

The kidnappers laid an ambush for security operatives, opening fire and causing casualties.

The news of the attack on the security operatives incensed the residents, who unleashed venom on northerners living in the community

The university town is tense, with authorities of Delta State University (DELSU) temporarily halting academic activities.

The state governor has summoned an emergency security meeting today, Thursday, June 05, to address the situation.
