Chaka Chukwumerije, the Abia State Commissioner and son of the late Senator Uche Chukwumerije, narrowly escaped death in a gun attack on Sunday.
The incident occurred while he was traveling from Okigwe to Umuahia, when his vehicle came under heavy gunfire.
Despite the vehicle being riddled with bullets, all occupants miraculously survived the attack unscathed. Chaka's brother, Dike Chukwumerije, expressed gratitude to God for their narrow escape.
Dike revealed that despite the attack, Chaka remains committed to his work, refusing to be intimidated.
"My brother has buried himself in his work so completely, so selflessly, that we are constantly picking up the slack in other areas of his personal life," Dike added.
The motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, and it's unclear if the incident is related to Chaka's official duties. Authorities are likely to investigate the matter further.
The incident serves as a reminder of the risks faced by public officials. Chaka's miraculous escape has left many grateful, and his determination to continue serving without fear or favor is commendable.
