The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom
Wike, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his remarkable contributions to
the infrastructural development of Abuja, declaring that the capital has
undergone significant transformation under his leadership.
Speaking during an inspection tour of various ongoing
projects across the territory on Saturday, Wike asserted that only someone
blind or deliberately untruthful would deny the progress made in Abuja since
President Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023.
“Mr. President has provided first-class infrastructure to
Abuja. Everyone can see that the city has changed. We are happy about the
transformation, and we thank God for the kind of leadership he has given Mr.
President to deliver these dividends of democracy to the people of Abuja,” Wike
said.
He emphasized that a number of key infrastructure projects
are ready for commissioning in celebration of President Tinubu’s second year in
office. According to him, the inauguration exercise is expected to span two
weeks due to the number of completed projects.
Wike listed some of the projects to be inaugurated,
including the Gishiri Interchange, the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) to
Wassa Junction expansion, the International Conference Centre upgrade, and the
N5 road project. He also mentioned ongoing road constructions in satellite
towns, as well as the Abuja Greater Water project, which is set for
commissioning.
“These projects are not just in the city centre. We have
also extended development to the satellite towns, ensuring that all residents
benefit from the administration’s commitment to inclusive infrastructure,” he
said.
According to the minister, the administration’s goal is to
improve the quality of life for Abuja residents, stressing that good leadership
plays a central role in national development.
“Our joy is to see that people are happy. At the end of the
day, we serve the people. I’ve said before that leadership is key—when you have
the right leadership, the people will surely benefit,” Wike concluded.
