A disturbing scene has emerged where candidates sitting for
the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination were sitting for their English Language
examination late at night without electricity, using lanterns and mobile phone
flashlights.
The situation was brought to light by a user, Omolomo, who
identifies as #Omolomo_o, who shared pictures and videos on his X (formerly
Twitter) account on Wednesday, showing students sitting for examination in
near-total darkness.
Sharing videos and pictures he wrote, "This is a school
WAEC centre in Nigeria currently, they're writing WAEC right now.
"It is 9:42pm and
students are forced to use lamps to write their English WAEC exam in total darkness."

Photos and videos from various schools show students bent
over desks, huddled around torches, lamps, or phone flashlights.
The poor lighting conditions sparked immediate outrage
online over the deteriorating state of education infrastructure in the country.
This is currently in katsina state. Someone sent to me. Those ones are still writing the exams in the midst of insecurity in the state.
