Sunday Oliseh, former Super Eagles captain and head coach,
has been appointed to the advisory panel of the International Football
Association Board (IFAB).
IFAB is FIFA’s football rule-making arm. The board is
responsible for revising, adjusting, and introducing new laws into the game.
Oliseh announced his appointment in a tweet on X on Monday.
“Thrilled to announce my appointment to the International
Football Association Board (IFAB),” the post reads.
“IFAB is the global guardian of football’s laws, responsible
for determining the laws of football, shaping the beautiful game for players
and fans worldwide. Honoured to contribute to its mission!”
Oliseh joins Daniel Amokachi, his former Eagles teammate, on
the advisory panel. Other influential names on the panel include Arsene Wenger,
Luis Figo, Esteban Cambiasso and Paolo Wanchope.
The football advisory panel comprises 21 people, including
former football players, former and current coaches, representatives from the
International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro), the European
Club Association (ECA) and technical directors and experts from the
confederations.
The panel brings expertise and knowledge to the discussions
of footballing issues and the sporting aspects of potential law changes.
