Shehu Sani, former Kaduna Central Senator, has suggested how
the 753 houses located in Abuja which were seized from the former Central Bank
of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Godwin Emefiele should be utilized.
Sani said the 753 seized houses should be shared among
polytechnics, universities, colleges of education, and research institutes.
Posting on X, the former lawmaker said future Nigerians
would learn from the history of the buildings.
He wrote: “The 753 seized Houses in Abuja should be shared
to all Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and Research
Institutes. It’s enough to go round.
“They can decide what they want to do with it. The future
generation will learn from the history of the Houses and appreciate the actions
taken.”
In December, 2024, the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission, EFCC, had secured the final forfeiture of the estate linked to
Emefiele.
Justice Jude Onwegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory,
FCT, High Court had ordered the forfeiture of the 753 duplexes.
The estate is said to be located in the Lokogoma district of
the federal capital territory, FCT.
Following the ruling, the EFCC recently handed over the
forfeited property to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
