The media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital
Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, Lere Olayinka on Monday revealed how much the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Secretariat is owing the FCT Authority.
Olayinka disclosed that Wadata Plaza which houses the PDP
National Secretariat and is located at Wuse Zone 5 area of Abuja is owing the
FCTA the sum of N7,603,504.31 as ground rent.
Posting on X, Olayinka said the sum was accrued from
inability to pay ground rent for 28 years.
He wondered why the former ruling party has been unable to
raise such money despite the huge amount made in the sales of forms.
Olayinka wrote: “GROUND RENT and the PDP Secretariat.
“On Wadata Plaza being used as PDP National Secretariat,
N7,603,504.31 is being owed as 28 years Ground Rent.
“Meanwhile, I paid N2.7m for the PDP Nomination Form for the
House of Reps in 2022.
“In my Federal Constituency, 3 of us who were aspirants paid
N2.7m each, making N8.1m.”
On Monday, officials of the FCTA sealed up the building
housing the Secretariat over default in paying ground rent.
On March 18, 2025, the FCTA revoked 4,794 land titles in the
Central Area, Garki I and II, Wuse I and II, Asokoro, Maitama and Guzape districts.
These 4,794 properties were part of the 8,375 land titles
which the owners defaulted in paying their ground rent for 43 years.
The building housing the PDP secretariat is part of the
affected properties whose titles were revoked.
