Senators elected on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
platform in Osun have declared support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the
2027 presidential election.
The senators — Kamarudeen Oyewumi (Osun west), Olubiyi
Ajagunla (Osun central), and Francis Fadahunsi (Osun east) — made their
position known in a joint statement issued on Wednesday.
The endorsement followed a meeting held on Tuesday.
The lawmakers expressed their support for Tinubu’s
leadership, citing his track record in governance, economic reforms, and
infrastructure development.
They praised the administration’s initiatives, saying there
were visible improvements in national security and a notable reduction in food
prices, which they described as evidence of the president’s effective policies.
The senators also expressed pride in aligning with “Tinubu’s
visionary and progressive agenda”.
“This endorsement is not just symbolic — it reflects our
deep confidence in President Tinubu’s ability to deliver on the promise of
democracy,” the statement reads.
“The Osun PDP Senators’ Caucus is united and unwavering in
its support. There is no internal dissent; we stand as one.”
Similarly, David Umahi, minister of works, had said all the
governors in the south-east region would be endorsing Tinubu ahead of the 2027
vote.
The minister said the south-east is witnessing a new wave of
federal attention and infrastructure development under the president.
Umahi also urged key regional opposition figures to align
with the president for the greater good of the south-east.
