Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on
Information and Strategy, has described as fake a recent statement on White
House invitation to President Bola Tinubu circulating on the Internet.
The statement claimed to have emanated from the State House.
The statement in particular claimed that the Presidency had
declined an invitation from the United States government extended to President
Tinubu to visit the country.
According to the statement tagged as fake by the Presidency,
it claimed that Tinubu declined the said invite on the basis that he has
pressing domestic priorities to attend to.
However, reacting to the ‘fake statement’ which has his name
appended to it, Onanuga warned that whoever the originator is the law will
catch up with him one day.
In a post on his X handle on Sunday, Onanuga described it as
the work of disinformation agents and fake news propagators.
He said: “Disinformation agents, hoax peddlers, fake news
propagators, clickbaiters at work again. Whoever you are, one day, the law will
catch you.”
