Nigeria’s electricity generation capacity rose to a peak of
5148.34 megawatts on Friday, April 25, 2025.
This is according to grid system performance data released
by operators.
The latest grid performance data showed that Nigeria’s
electricity generation increased by 405.54 megawatts to 5148.34MW on Friday
from the 4,742.80MW peak recorded on Saturday, 19th April 2025.
Meanwhile, Friday’s grid performance figure is lower than
the 5,801.63MW announced by the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, in the earlier
days of this month.
“The Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry has transmitted
and distributed the highest energy of 5,801.63 MW as the latest feat,” Adelabu
stated when receiving European Union delegates in his office in Abuja on April
9, 2025.
The minister attributed this feat to relative stability in
the nation’s grid for the past four months.
Despite the country’s grid performance data, majority of
Nigerians have continued to face power supply challenges over the years.
