Arsenal have cut Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League to six points again, following a stunning 5-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday.
The Gunners came into the game knowing that Arne Slot’s men
had won 2-0 at Bournemouth to go nine points clear of them.
And they responded quickly, as captain Martin Ødegaard put
the hosts ahead within two minutes.
Kai Havertz pounced on a defensive mix-up to square the ball
for Ødegaard to tap into an empty net.
City were level almost immediately after the break, with
Erling Haaland heading home Savinho’s cross.
But again, Arsenal responded via Thomas Partey’s deflected
strike to go in front.
From that point on, it was all Mikel Arteta’s men.
Youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly grabbed his first-ever goal for
the club before Kai Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri also got on the scoresheet.
The win takes Arsenal up to 50 points, six behind Liverpool,
who play their outstanding fixture at Everton on Wednesday.
