Many cities across northern Nigeria recorded violence during
the #EndbadGovernance protest that kicked off on Thursday.
In Kaduna, a police officer was reportedly shot by hoodlums
during the protest.
Sani Kila, chief of staff (CoS) to the state governor, said
the police officer was taken to the Nigerian Army Referral Hospital, opposite
the government house.
Kila also dismissed reports that the state government has
imposed a 24-hour curfew in Kaduna.
Mansir Hassan, the police spokesperson in the state, said 25
suspected hoodlums were arrested during the protest.
He said the armed hoodlums attacked and looted the offices
of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTLEA), the Kaduna State
Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA), and a neighbouring residential house
located along Sokoto road.
Meanwhile, in Jigawa state, at least three people were
reportedly killed and others injured as police fired teargas to disperse
hoodlums who had infiltrated the protest.
In Gumel town, the store of the Jigawa State Agricultural
Supply Company (JASCO), a private house belonging to a house of representatives
member representing Gumel, Gagarawa, and Maigarati federal constituencies in
the state, and the residence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) zonal
vice-chairman, were all vandalised and looted.
Also, in Dutse, the state capital, hoodlums set the
headquarters of the APC on fire.
They reportedly broke into the facility and destroyed billboards and other promotional materials before setting the structure on fire.
