Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State on Wednesday lashed out at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, for accusing him of renting crowds for thanksgiving.
Wike made the remark while expressing regrets for helping
Fubara to become the governor of the oil-rich state.
Addressing a crowd of supporters, Wike had said Fubara
displayed a high level of pretext which deceived him to work towards making him
his successor.
Wike has been at daggers-drawn with Fubara and their
face-off appears a long away from resolution, even after a peace deal brokered
by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking while receiving members of the Nigeria Union of
Local Government Employees, NULGE, who were on a solidarity rally at the
Government House, Port Harcourt, Fubara said the large number of people proves
the nature of the “organic support his administration has continued to enjoy
from the people of the state”.
“Some days ago, somebody said we are busy renting crowds for
thanksgiving.
“But what I have seen here today is not different from what
is happening at those thanksgiving rallies. People are just appreciating God
and good governance,” he said.
