How Aiyedatiwa’s ‘thugs’ attacked my aides – Ondo lawmaker, Ayebusiwa

The lawmaker representing Okitipupa Constituency 1 in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Chris Ayebusiwa, has cried out over the alleged attack on some of his aides and on his official vehicle by some alleged supporters of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, whom he described as “thugs.”

According to the lawmaker, the aides were on transit through the popular Oba Adesida road in Akure, the state capital, when they were waylaid by the hoodlums in a Sienna bus branded with the governor’s campaign slogan, ‘Odirorun Boyz’.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Advocacy, Kehinde Akinyemi, he said the hoodlums who carried out the attack at the weekend were also decked in ‘Odirorun’ attire.

While stating that the attack was politically motivated, the lawmaker disclosed that the incident had been reported to law enforcement agencies.

“The incident that left the vehicle visibly damaged happened around 4 p.m. on Saturday along the Oba-Adesida road, Oja-Oba axis, Akure, Ondo State Capital.

“The black GAC official car of the legislator was assailed by the touts. Three of his staff aboard, including the driver and civil defence officer, were assaulted by the thugs, who attacked with a pro-Aiyedatiwa-branded Sienna bus and clad in Aiyedatiwa’s campaign face caps,” he said.

Reacting to the allegation, the governor, through his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, described the claims of the lawmaker as false.

“This is politics taken too far. How many so-called ‘youths’ in Akure even recognise your face or your vehicle to deliberately attack it for political purposes?

“The true report is that you moved with a convoy and ran into a group of youths who were protesting against an alleged attack by some soldiers in the area, and your insistence on passing through the protest led to the unfortunate attack on your vehicle.

“Nobody in that protest or group of youths wore any insignia of Aiyedatiwa, as erroneously claimed by you.

“I do hope the report you gave to the police was supported by evidence to back up this false narrative,” he stated.
