Insecurity: Normalcy will return to Southeast if Nnamdi Kanu is freed – Igbo youths

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, has said the only way to tackle the security crisis in the region is to release the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

COSEYL, in a statement issued and made available to newsmen on Saturday by its President General, Goodluck Ibem, said as long as the secessionist remains in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, the wanton killings in the region may not stop.

According to him, the continuous incarceration of Kanu “has brought insecurity to the Southeast, leading to hardship, starvation, and hunger in the country”.

He said the sit-at-home usually observed on Mondays and any day Kanu is taken to court has restricted the region’s economic growth.

“We call on the Federal Government led by President Tinubu to look carefully and do the needful by releasing Nnamdi Kanu in order to restore the confidence of the people in the region.

“The nation urgently needs healing and the release of Nnamdi Kanu will help achieve that healing which is currently lacking”, he added.
